Finsihed!

I loved creating my video! It was the best thing that we explored. I thought that I was up to date on applications online, but was completely surprised by how much I really learned from this site. I do believe that some of things were unnecessary. Facebook and Myspace are widely used along with Youtube. These websites are made to be self explanatory and feel that must everyone already has explored these sites. I think what I have learned will influence me by making me humble to the every changing world of technology.

Thing #23

I will use creative commons as an educator to insure that my students understand what plagiarizing is. By explaining that it is illegal and that sources need to be cited appropriately or consequences may occur. I believe that most students do not realize that downloading music and videos for free is illegal. Even if they do realize that is illegal I truly do not believe that they realize that using media in illegal ways truly hurts a person somewhere financially. I will use creative commons to inform my students of the ethical uses of media.

I found a great educational podcast of famous American speeches. I think that the easiest directory to use was learn out loud. I didn't like podcast directory because I thought it was very difficult to search for podcasts. I didn't like their categories. I found a perfect podcast on the first try with learn out loud. I don't like the idea of making my own podcast but I love the idea of using podcasts. I think it would be a great tool to use a bell work. Worksheets could be created to go along with the podcast and it would ensure and quiet and easy transition.

I LOVE animoto. It was very easy to use. I simply uploaded the photos that I already have on Facebook. The tools, point and drag, reminded me of using a mac. It was easy to organize the pictures, and even to choose the music. I liked that they had the slide show conform to the music. It just makes Animoto that much better. This would be a great end of the year present to students. You could add all the pictures of the class from field trips etc. Students and parents would be sure to love it.

Thing #20

I love Youtube and use it very frequently! The best part about youtube is the fact that the page displays related videos on the side and on the video screen when the video is finished playing. I choose the video that I did because I had seen it before. They are from Oklahoma and are friends of friends. The video actually ended up making national headlines and landing a segment on the Today show. I think there are many opportunities to use this in the classroom. There are an abundance of educational videos that students of all ages could benefit from.

Thing #19

I am not currently a member of any online communities because I do not feel I have to time to commit to any. I believe that when I start teaching and am out of school I may find it useful and not time consuming. Teacher pop is appealing to me because I believe that teachers often feel isolated and teacher pop creates a community atmosphere. I think the most interesting thing I found during this thing was teacher pop! I knew that it existed, but had no idea that APSU had created it.

Thing #18

I use both myspace and facebook on a regular basis and believe when used in the appropriate manner. It is beneficial for educators to know how social networking site work because students often use them in inappropriate manners that carry over into the school setting. Problems may be encountered that educators have to deal with and with knowledge of social networking sites educators may be more able to understand and effectively solve these problems.
It would be great to use myspace or facebook in the classroom in an appropriate manner. Groups could be created to include parents. These groups could keep members up to date on classroom projects and activities. Students could also link their profiles together into a group where they could help eachother with homework, or ask other classmates questions about class projects, car pooling, etc.
